Eliminated Alternatives
The Project Steering Committe (PSC) selected the final ROA to be moved forward into the next stage of analysis during their August 22nd meeting. The PSC has recommended that alternatives 4A, 4B, 4C and 5A be elminated due to the fact that they resulted in major negative impacts to Tualatin and did not provide any transportation benefits greater than those achieved in other draft alternatives.
Alternative 4A
Alternative 4A suggested a connection between I-5 and 99W with an I-5 connection point at I-205 and a mid-point connection at Tualatin-Sherwood Road. This alternative would create significant impacts to existing residential and commercial areas if pursue as a surve connection. If pursued as a tunnel option, this alternative would require multiple tunnels, and would cost approximately as much as five times as much as a surface area facility.

Alternative 4B
Alternative 4B proposed a corridor with a I-5 connection point at i_205, with a mid-point connection at 124th South of Tualatin-Sherwood Road. This alternative would include major improvements to Tualatin-Sherwood road, and in doing so would propose significant impacts to existing residential and commercial areas within Tualatin. If pursued as a tunnel option, Alternative 4B proposes a tunnel connection below Tualatin, with multiple tunnels serving as ramps for connections to I-5 and I-205. Simiarly to Alternative 4A, a tunnel option for 4B would cost approximately five times as much as a surface facility improvement.

Alternative 4C
Alternative 4C recommends the same connection point to 99W as Alternative 4B. This alternative proposes a mid-point connection to occur at 124th South of Tualatin-Sherwood Road with an I-5 connection point at I-205. Alternative 4C would create major impacts to residential and commercial areas within Tualatin as a surface project, and would cross over Tualatin-Sherwood Road at a tighter angle than the overpass recommended in Alternative 4B.

Alternative 5A
Alternative 5A recommends a connector that is partially outside of the existing UGB. This alternative suggests a I-5 connection point at I-205 with impacts similar to those of Alternatives 4A, 4B, and 4C. The I-205 connection could be pursued as a tunnel option, with the same cost projection as a tunnel option for alternatives 4A, 4B, and 4C. Alternative 5A would include improvements to the Tualatin Sherwood Riad, and would have a 99W connection south of Sherwood. This alternative would also have a mid-point connection at 124th south of Tualatin Sherwood Road.
